Job Description:
Full-time (35 hours per week), year-round position for an energetic arts administrator with a demonstrated knowledge of contemporary poetry and experience in community-based art projects to fill a full-time position as the Project Coordinator for Poetry Paths, an innovative, grant-funded public art initiative in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. From October 2009 through December 2011, the Project Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director of Poetry Paths/Director of the Philadelphia Alumni Writers House and our community collaborators to establish public sculptures and other displays inscribed with poems throughout the city of Lancaster. As the primary administrator on the project, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for establishing and managing the activities and processes that will bring the project to successful completion.  
 
Some weekend hours will be required, particularly in the summer and fall of 2010.  
 
Primary responsibilities include:  
 
* Managing a marketing and media plan that includes creating a Poetry Paths website;  
 
* Establishing a local and national process for soliciting and commissioning poems;  
 
* Organizing workshops for a literacy coach and visiting poets in the school district and the city at various sites;  
 
* Working with an advisory committee to choose winning designs and poems;  
 
* Creating a .pdf map, a technology component, and walking tour related to the Paths and subsequently identifying and training tour guides;  
 
* Developing and completing an assessment process for the project and work with Franklin & Marshall staff members to identify and solicit possible additional funding for expanding and sustaining the project beyond the end of the primary grant.

Requirements:
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree or higher; at least 3 years work experience in arts administration or a related field (additional education in contemporary writing and/or arts administration preferred); knowledge of contemporary poetry and visual arts; and experience in successful arts-related and community collaborations. Fluency in Spanish as well as English is preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate information and gain support and cooperation, are essential.
